Welcome
Edinburgh People's Theatre (EPT) are well known for presenting a broad variety of productions ranging from straight drama through to the fun of the Christmas Pantomime. Our year is based around a schedule of up to seven productions (including the 2008 Festival Fringe which was our 50th year of participation), so there's always plenty going on for people to join in with, whatever their level of interest and experience. Details of our next production are listed below.
Greetings from our President
Hi and welcome to the Edinburgh People’s Theatre website. My name is Carol Caldwell and I am president of the club for 2008-2009.
I have been known to “tread the boards” occasionally (happily, well disguised as the stand-in, tap-dancing, rear end of Daisy, the pantomime cow!). However, I prefer to work backstage and my role in the club for over twenty years is that of Wardrobe Mistress and Costume Designer. I really enjoy designing and creating costumes for the many varied plays and pantomimes which EPT performs.
The club was established in 1943. We present a diverse programme of plays throughout the year; some serious and some comedy. We don’t have ‘stars’ as such. You might be the lead in one play, but in the next, you might be helping with props; in other words, we like a good team effort! After all, where would the actors be without all the technical crew, wardrobe or front of house? I’ll tell you - they would be on a bare stage, in the dark, with no costumes and no audience. In fact there would be no EPT!
We have regular open nights, where you can come and meet us and see what we get up to, with a view to joining EPT. So why not come and join us? We would be pleased to see you. Feel free to contact me if you would like to know anything more about the club.
